Black cat crossing my path

Black cat crossing my path

The black cat near my house

Superstition says that it is bad luck if a black cat crosses your path. But this little one who keeps loitering around in the compound of my house, keeps crossing my path at least once a week. And I am doing just fine! Hope her life ain’t so bad! (I’m crossing her path as well, ain’t I?!)

Here you see her perched on the compound wall of my neighbour’s house, soaking in the sun.

It all starts with us. Clarity of thought. We want things and then there are things we do not want. It is a serious thought process. Coming and going. Leaving you twisted and tormented. It is how you seek things and expect things to happen. Life doesn’t necessarily come a full circle. You need to prepare yourself for the worst. For a life of hard work, knowing you can do it. Because we all can. We haven’t been made to do the impossible. We have been made, so there is nothing impossible. Life always throws the unexpected at you. Pick it up and deal with it. At the end of the day, you will do it. You will smile, knowing that it was, after all, possible.

For a Complaint Free World

For a Complaint Free World

A few days back i was watching the Oprah Winfrey Show. One of the guests on her show was Pastor Will Bowen who has started a non-profit organisation called A Complaint Free World. It all began in the pastor’s church in July 2006 when he distributed purple bracelets one Sunday morning. The idea was to use these bracelets to eradicate complaining from our lives. Today about six million bracelets have been sent to people in more than 105 countries.

Now this is what you have go to do. Wear the bracelet on either wrist. But once you start complaining, gossipping or criticising, wear it on your other wrist. Scientists believe that it takes 21 days for a habit to form and the purpose of the purple bracelet is to wear it on one of your wrists for 21 whole days. If you do complain and wear it on your other wrist, your 21 days will have to begin all over again. Also, if you catch someone else complaining, you can ask them to move the bracelet to the other wrist, but you’ve got to move your bracelet first since you are complaining about someone else complaining!

Oprah Winfrey stated an example of how people complain about the weather knowing very well that complaining isn’t really going to change it. The Complaint free Bracelet costs one dollar and you can write to them or send in an e-mail to place an order.

Here is a quote from their website:

Complaining is not to be confused with informing someone of a mistake or deficiency so that it can be put right. And to refrain from complaining doesn’t necessarily mean putting up with bad quality or behavior. There is no ego in telling the waiter your soup is cold and needs to be heated up—if you stick to the facts, which are always neutral. ‘How dare you serve me cold soup…?’ That’s complaining.”
